This trio of Japanese scissors consists of 3 "Tataki Nomi" with widths of 12, 24, 36mm and a length of 300mm. These are almost new tataki nomi and directly imported from Japan. They have barely been used.

The Ura (shape at the back of the iron) is black which is synonymous with a good forge (annealed after shaping) and has a slight egg shape (the easiest to sharpen). The workmanship of these scissors is honorable. The irons are made of hand-forged two-layer white steel, there is a good layer of hard steel (a guarantee of quality for tataki nomi). The handles are rather thin. They are made of Japanese white oak. They have pretty hammered ferrules.

The chisels have not been used much overall. I sharpened them with a water stone to 3000 grit. These "Tataki Nomi" chisels (timber chisels in English) are similar to our carpenter's chisels, thicker and longer than the small "Oire Nomi" popular with Westerners. These chisels are made to withstand much more impact during work. They are quite heavy...

They are perfectly suited for making mortises on frames, but also for furniture with hardwoods such as oak (allow for a slight change in bevel angle).

With these tools, you can discover Japanese tools. For cabinetmakers, sculptors, carpenters, or simply DIY enthusiasts.
