Rare set of Japanese scissors Tokyo guild "Oire Nomi" 3, 12, 36, 42mm "Masahiko"
This set is very rare, it consists of Japanese scissors "Oire Nomi" with widths 3, 12, 36, 42mm and a length of 220mm. These are new old stock tools and directly imported from Japan. The handles are made of Japanese red oak.
The Ura (shape on the back of the iron) are particularly well executed. These are scissors from the Tokyo guild famous for its renowned blacksmiths. These were forged by the shokunin (master) "Masahiko". The irons are made of high-carbon, two-layer, hand-forged steel. These scissors are forged in the old-fashioned way with coal and quenched with water.
These are scissors particularly prized by lovers of Japanese tools. This period of the Tolyo guild was very prolific in terms of quality.
These "Oire Nomi" scissors are short. They are very nice for small cabinetmaking jobs. This one has the so-called "Mentori" (shape) with beveled edges, it is a modern shape. These are very high-end scissors for someone who will cherish this type of tool. Like all new scissors, fine sharpening is to be expected, as well as the adjustment of the ferrule. In Japan it is always up to the purchaser of the tool to finalize and adapt the tool to his own use, it is a philosophy of the tool ... I will provide all the advice to be able to obtain an adjustment.
With this tool, you can discover Japanese tools. For cabinetmakers, sculptors, carpenters, or simply DIY enthusiasts.
