Japanese saw "Ryoba" 300mm "Kijima"
Japanese saw "Ryoba" 300mm "Kijima"
This forged saw from the brand "Kijima" is directly imported from Japan. Its blade length is 300mm (cutting area). These saws are produced in a semi-artisanal way and are therefore sharpenable. I also sell files intended for this purpose.
It has an excellent cutting edge longevity thanks to its carbon steel. It must be used correctly to avoid damaging it (no curves, etc.). It is perfect for cutting large sections and making large assemblies. This saw is very efficient for all carpentry and framework work in particular.
It comes without a handle. Making a handle is a fairly simple operation. I would give some tips on how to do this.
Unlike European saws, Japanese saws are pulled instead of pushed like our handsaws. This maneuverability allows for more precise and straighter cuts. These saws should be greased (camellia oil) as often as possible and stored away from humidity. Also avoid working when your workshop is too cold (>10°). I would like to point out that all these saws should only be used to cut wood, bamboo or plastics. (Yes, some have tried...).
With these tools, you will be able to discover Japanese tools. For carpenters, joiners or simply DIY enthusiasts (advanced level).
