This natural Japanese sharpening stone has a grit of approximately 7000. This type of stone is literally mined in Japan. Indeed, Japanese geology offers small treasures in terms of sharpening stones. It is brand new and imported directly from Japan; this type of stone is difficult to find in Europe.

This "Koppa," which means "cut," comes from the "Nakayama" mountains, very famous for their natural stones.

This is a finishing stone used to achieve an excellent polish on your edges, whether for tools or kitchen knives. It is an intermediate quality stone. The finish is well-polished; it is the right grit size for achieving a razor-sharp edge. It is equivalent to a 7000 grit. This one creates an extra-fine slurry. It will be very useful for your carbon steel tools and particularly for your knives or *kanna* plane blades made of *kamaji* (recycled forged steel). It will reveal all the details of your *jigane* (base steel).

The stone measures 114 X 74 X 17mm and weighs 407g. Its thickness is 23mm at its widest point and 15mm at its thinnest. This is the finest and heaviest one in stock.

I have tried it; it creates a fine slurry and leaves a magnificent polish. It does not have that suction effect that causes the blade to stick to the stone, which is highly undesirable. I recommend using a diamond plate to maintain the flatness of your stones' surfaces.

It is a water stone, so it must be wetted (using a spray bottle). After use, let it dry naturally (avoid placing it in direct sunlight). You must use a diamond plate to maintain the flatness of your stones' surfaces. It is preferable to glue it (using epoxy resin) to a wooden base.

With this tool, you can discover Japanese tools. For cabinetmakers, sculptors, carpenters, cooks, or simply hobbyists.

"Super passionate and fascinating. A few months after buying a knife in the shop, I treated myself to a great short course: discussions about Japanese knives (use, manufacturing, composition...) and an introduction to sharpening. I highly recommend this professional."

"Simply the only shop for Japanese woodworking tools in the Ile-de-France region, and to my knowledge, in France. Lucas is always generous with sharing his knowledge, and his prices are competitive. He has master-crafted planes at fair prices. Go for it with your eyes closed."
