Outinomi was born in 2022 from Lucas Hoffalt's passion for Japanese tools and a simple conviction: a good tool does more than just complete a task; it transforms the movement of the person using it. Today, he continues to collect and promote the high quality and diversity of Japanese tools.
Outinomi is the solution he wants to offer to beginners, amateurs, and professionals who, like him in the beginning, would have liked simple access to Japanese tools, their secrets, and better advice on how to use them.
From Japan to your workshop, we select tools made by renowned artisans and manufacturers recognized for their high standards and respect for tradition. Oire nomi (wood chisels), Hira kanna (planes), Nokogiri (saws), Genno (hammers), Toishi (sharpening stones), or specialized accessories: each piece is chosen for its quality, durability, and the pleasure it provides in use.
But Outinomi is much more than a shop. It is also a place for transmission. Behind every tool lie centuries of Japanese expertise, specific techniques, and a work philosophy where the mastery of the gesture matters as much as the final result. That is why we regularly share advice and resources to help artisans, carpenters, cabinetmakers, wood enthusiasts, and curious individuals who wish to better understand the world of Japanese tools.
Outinomi is a bridge between Japanese craftsmanship and the artisans of today.
We believe that an exceptional tool deserves to be understood as much as it is used. Whether intended for a demanding professional or a passionate amateur, every tool we offer is selected with the same level of rigor as that of its manufacturers. Today, we want to present the best of Japanese artisanal production, whether in the world of woodworking, kitchen utensils, or gardening.
Because beyond the tools, it is the gestures, the traditions, and the constant pursuit of perfection that inspire us.
