This magnificent Japanese "Gyuto" knife is 240mm long (cutting edge). It is 2mm thick at the middle of the blade. It features a beautiful Damascus pattern.The octagonal handle is crafted from sandalwood, with a buffalo horn bolster and a silver ring. It is a very elegant knife with a beautiful matte finish that reveals the Damascus pattern. The handle is oval-shaped. It is made of magnolia wood and the bolster is buffalo horn.
Oka knives are hand-forged by master blacksmiths Katsushige Anryu-san and Takumi Ikeda. They are made in the famous knife-making village of Takefu.
It is made of Super Gold 2 Damascus steel. This stainless steel (SG2) is considered one of the best steels in the world by many blacksmiths. SG2 steel is made from sintered steel powder. Sintering is a process that allows the powder to be heated to a very high temperature in order to melt the microparticles in a perfectly homogeneous manner. The unique feature of these incredible steels is that they allow for an extra-fine mineralogical structure, resulting in an extremely durable edge.
