Japanese saw "Kataba" 250mm "Zsaw"
Japanese saw "Kataba" 250mm "Zsaw"
This saw is directly imported from Japan. It is a Japanese saw type "kataba" with single teeth for the cross grain of the wood. Its blade length is 250mm, its thickness is 0.5mm. It is a saw produced by the brand "Zsaw", the teeth are hardened by impulse. It has a so-called universal toothing which will work in the different directions of the wood. It is a very versatile saw which will cut solid wood as well as plywood and some hardwoods.
This is a good saw to discover the use of Japanese saws which are thinner than European saws. You have to use this type of saw carefully so as not to make a curve and without making too many jolts. This type of saw is made of an alloy where there is Chrome so no oxidation, they are rather flexible. The downside of that is that they are not sharpenable. This size of saw will be suitable for all cabinetmaking and carpentry work. It is adjusted (toothing) for soft to medium-hard woods.
Unlike European saws, Japanese saws are pulled instead of pushed like our handsaws. This maneuverability allows for more precise and straighter cuts. By pulling only you stretch the blade which remains straight, no spring effect.
