This vintage hand-forged saw is imported directly from Japan. It bears the "Nakaya" brand. The Nakaya family is a long and famous lineage of saw makers.

The saw is of AAA* quality.

Its blade length is 290mm (cutting area). It is truly very large. It is new and in perfect condition. The saw is of high quality. There are superficial oxidation spots due to long-term storage, nothing deep. This Nokogiri (saw) is hand-forged. It is therefore sharpenable; I also sell files intended for this purpose. It has excellent edge retention thanks to its carbon steel.

It is intended for advanced users, as it must be used correctly to avoid damaging it (no curving...). It is perfect for cutting large sections and making large joints. This saw is very efficient for all carpentry work in particular.

It is supplied without a handle. Making a handle is a fairly simple operation. I will provide advice on how to do so. I specify that I will only sell this saw to experienced users who have already cut their teeth on other saws. Thank you for your understanding.

*Here is my rating system for the quality of forged saws: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C.

AAAA: zero defects, excellent craftsmanship.

AAA: zero defects, excellent craftsmanship but may have a patina due to storage.

AA: zero defects, good craftsmanship and has a patina due to storage.

A: good craftsmanship and light oxidation in places due to storage.

B: standard craftsmanship and light oxidation in places due to storage.

C: oxidation on part of the teeth.

These saws must be oiled (camellia oil) as often as possible and stored away from humidity. Also avoid working if your workshop is too cold (>10°C). I specify that all these saws should only be used for cutting wood and not bamboo or plastics. (Yes, some have tried...).

Unlike European saws, Japanese saws are pulled rather than pushed like our handsaws. This maneuverability allows for more precise and straighter cuts.
