This "Kogatana" knife was made by Mr. Takeshi Saji in the village of Takefu. Mr. Takeshi Saji was the youngest person (at 44) to obtain the title of master craftsman. With his forge founded in 1916, he was one of the pioneers of Japanese-style knives made using traditional techniques. He continues to participate in trade shows and travel abroad to immerse himself in new ideas. Today, he continues to create and experiment with new techniques and materials. He is often heard saying, "what if we tried this."
His style is recognized by a great mastery of traditional forms combined with the use of materials in Western-style handles. Initially a specialist in hatchets (Nata), he has invested heavily in and developed a very wide range of kitchen knives.
I have the opportunity to present this small folding hunting knife to you. This Western style, particularly well-mastered by the Japanese, is typical of the 90s. It is the classic combination of brass, ironwood, and a VG10 damascus blade.
This Western-style hunting knife has a cutting edge length of 90mm, and its total length is 215mm. The ironwood handle is riveted with brass and its guard is also made of brass. It has a double-beveled edge and its blade is made of stainless VG10 damascus steel.
Its finish is matte, and the damascus pattern is deeply revealed by acid. This Kogatana is beautifully crafted. This type of knife will be very practical for camping, bushcraft, or hunting. It is supplied in a very sober box.
With this knife, you will be able to discover Japanese blades.
