This Japanese "Oire Nomi" chisel has a width of 3mm and a length of 220mm. It is a premium tool imported directly from Japan.
The handle is made of Japanese red oak. The Ura (hollow ground back) is perfectly executed. It is a chisel from the Yasaku brand, produced in medium batches in the city of Miki. The blade is made of hand-forged, two-layer high-carbon white steel (white steel 1), featuring a thick layer of hard steel (a mark of quality).
I personally know the sharpener who assembles and adjusts these chisels. These chisels are second to none compared to the big names. They are produced in a workshop where three generations work together alongside other staff members. This is why it offers the best value for money.
These "Oire Nomi" chisels are short. They are very comfortable for small cabinetmaking tasks. This one features the "Mentori" shape (form) with beveled edges, which is a modern design. These are excellent chisels for discovering higher-end tools and deepening your experience with such chisels.
Like all new chisels, fine sharpening is required, as well as adjusting the ferrule. In Japan, it is always up to the buyer to finalize and adapt the tool to their own use; it is a philosophy of the tool... I will provide all the advice needed to achieve a proper setup.
With this tool, you can discover Japanese craftsmanship. For cabinetmakers, sculptors, carpenters, or simply DIY enthusiasts.
